
Space-time adaptive algorithms and a posteriori estimators for mesh modification.

We present a space-time adaptive algorithm for time-dependent PDEs, parabolic and hyperbolic, using finite elements. The error estimators derived in [1, 3] are modified taking into account successive adapted, non nested, and possibly anisotropic meshes. The evaluation of the error estimators requires to compute the intersection between non matching meshes [2]. Numerical experiments for the convection-diffusion and transport equations using Euler and Crank-Nicolson schemes will be presented.
