Adaptive Mesh Refinement for Spectral-Element Simulations of Turbulent Flows
Please login to view abstract download link
This work explores adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) for turbulent flow simulations using the Spectral Element Method (SEM) and the GPU-accelerated solver SOD2D. An octree-based structure enables dynamic adaptation, resolving non-conformal interfaces with fine-to-coarse continuity and residual interpolation. Initial results, including Taylor-Green vortex and cylinder flows, demonstrate accuracy with minimal mass and energy loss. Future efforts will target complex aerodynamic geometries.
